“The Longest Yard” - Adam Sandler, Burt Reynolds

Well, some things shouldn’t be remade, and this was one. I am generally a fan of Sandler, but this was slow and sluggish until the game, and even that couldn’t save it anymore than the extended cameo by Reynolds. Don’t bother; this is definitely not worth it.

By the way, why is it that stars known particularly for their good looks insist on acting so far past their prime? I like the Greta Garbo and Claudette Colbert approach when they left the silver screen. Few saw them again and we, their adoring public, were allowed to treasure them at their finest hours.

“Mr. and Mrs. Smith” - Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie

I have to say that the hype over their real life love affair has really cast a pall on this one. Sure there was chemistry but not enough to carry this flick. This is definitely small screen potatoes without the big screen magic. “True Lies” was a much better made film and similar plot line. This never gets clear about who either of these renegades works for, and while it is a stunning stream of stunt work, there isn’t much more to it. Don’t bother - and for their sake, I hope their real life romance has more sizzle than this dud.
